About the TWITA

The Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) acted on behalf of the five Tyne and Wear councils in relation to strategic transport policy.  It was responsible for significant transport assets, including the Tyne and Wear Metro and the Tyne Tunnels, as well as for overseeing major development projects.

The order passed by Parliament which established the Combined Authority also dissolved the Tyne and Wear ITA.  As a result, the role of the ITA along with its property, rights and liabilities transferred to the Combined Authority.

The Tyne and Wear ITA was replaced by the North East Combined Authority, therefore you may have been re-directed to this site.
