The ITA and Nexus work together with out Local Authority partners to determine the policies and implement the plan for transport in the conurbation. This has led to success in delivering significant capital investment on major public transport projects for the benefit of local people.
The ITA publicises a policy statement every three years and Nexus works to implement those policies. Every year a performance plan is published to identify progress. To implement its policies the ITA provides revenue on capital support to Nexus with the remit to procure and provide public transport services and facilities, to plan for future service developments, and to promote the use and convenience of public transport.
